LBSC Press Officer

Having carried out the Leighton Buzzard Swimming Club Press Officer duties for about 7 years, I now think it’s time to let someone else take over. I shall be standing down from the date of the LBSC AGM which takes place in May or June (date to be decided).

If you are interested in taking over these duties, I’m happy to assist with information and contacts and of course, I’ll still be around if any assistance is subsequently needed!

Requirements:

Access to a computer and email, particularly on Sundays! The Leighton Buzzard Observer deadline for submissions is first thing Monday morning, so gala reports from Saturday evening competitions and photo downloads need to be sent on the Sunday evening. The club has a new Canon digital camera that goes with the job so that team photos etc can be taken at galas. It’s best to have a current CRB as well due to the need to take photos and possibly be poolside. Gala results and team sheets are provided by the ‘team manager’ for the gala (usually one of the LBSC coaches) following events. We also do reports for events such as LBSC ‘Badge Nights’ for the Learn to Swim youngsters, the Annual Presentation Evening or the Barbecue – in fact anything that can get us a bit of coverage in the newspapers!
